about the project

Telling the story of Athlete Studio through years of branding, digital experiences, marketing, 3D and motion.

Client

Athlete Studio is a creative and digital platform that builds brand experiences, digital products, marketing content, and collectible experiences for professional athletes.

Project

Created as a promotional and recap film for Athlete Studio, the Sizzle Reel brings together selected work produced across several years, showcasing the studio's latest work across athlete branding, digital experiences, marketing, merchandise, 3D, and digital collectibles.

Rather than documenting the company's evolution, the reel presents a curated snapshot of what Athlete Studio had created across different disciplines at the time.

Role

I led the creative organization, visual direction, motion design, and editing for the entire reel.

I worked closely with the design team, 3D artists, Art Manager, and founder to collect and curate the work featured in the film, then developed the full sequence, transitions, motion graphics, pacing, and final edit.

The Challenge

How do you turn years of work across different disciplines into one cohesive visual experience?

Athlete Studio had accumulated a large body of creative work across athlete branding, websites, marketing campaigns, merchandise, 3D assets, and digital collectibles.

The challenge was to create a film that felt cohesive despite the variety of formats and visual styles.

Instead of presenting the work as a simple portfolio montage, I wanted the reel to feel intentional and dynamic, with each section naturally leading into the next.

The film needed to communicate the breadth of Athlete Studio's capabilities while keeping the visual experience engaging from beginning to end.

Curating the Story

Building a narrative from a large body of creative work

The first step was gathering and reviewing work across the studio.

I collaborated with the design team, 3D artists, Art Manager, and founder to identify projects and assets that best represented the breadth of Athlete Studio's work.

I then organized the selected work into a visual sequence that gradually moves across different creative disciplines:

‍Athlete Branding → Digital Experiences → Marketing → Merchandise → 3D & Digital Collectibles → Astro League

‍
The sequence was designed around visual relationships rather than project chronology. Logos lead into digital experiences, digital experiences transition into marketing and physical products, and the visual language gradually expands into 3D and character-based work.

This allowed projects created at different times and by different teams to feel like part of one cohesive story.

Visual Sequence

Five visual chapters

01. Athlete Identity
Justin Jefferson's logo opens the film, followed by a showcase of athlete logos created by the studio.

02. Digital Experiences
The sequence moves into athlete hero videos and personal websites, introducing the digital experiences built around each athlete.

03. Marketing & Merchandise
The story expands into athlete marketing content, social media, apparel, and merchandise.

04. 3D & Digital Collectibles
The film then moves into NFT shops, digital collectibles, 3D Pack Drop assets, and a collection of athlete-related digital gear.

05. Astro League
The final chapter introduces Astro League, a conceptual brand created for Athlete Studio's athlete bobblehead universe.

Designing the Motion

Connecting different disciplines through motion

With the content selected and sequenced, I designed the motion language for the entire film.

I created the transitions, motion graphics, pacing, and visual connections between sections, using movement to bridge very different types of content.

Rather than applying a single transition style throughout, I designed each transition around the content before and after it. Logos, websites, video footage, product imagery, 3D assets, and graphic compositions were treated as parts of one continuous visual system.

I completed the full edit and motion design independently, bringing together assets created by different designers and 3D artists into one final piece.

Astro League

Creating an identity for a new athlete character universe

Astro League was conceived as an overarching brand for Athlete Studio's collection of athlete-inspired bobblehead characters.

I developed the Astro League identity, 3D logo, and brand style guide, establishing a visual foundation for the character universe and future content.

I then translated the identity into a 3D animated logo, which became part of the Sizzle Reel's closing visual sequence.

The bobblehead characters and character animations shown in the reel were created by other 3D artists on the team. I worked with the 3D team to integrate their work into the overall Astro League presentation.

Final Film

A single film bringing together years of Athlete Studio's latest creative work across multiple disciplines.

Impact

01 //

The Sizzle Reel became a visual showcase of Athlete Studio's creative capabilities across multiple disciplines.

It brought together work created by different members of the studio and across several years, transforming a large collection of individual projects into one cohesive brand story.

02 //

The final film could be used as a promotional and recap piece to quickly communicate the range, quality, and creative scope of Athlete Studio's work.
